Sysco is the world's largest distributor of food and related products to the foodservice industry. The company serves approximately 730,000 customer locations including restaurants, hospitals, schools, hotels and other foodservice venues. Sysco generates revenue by distributing a comprehensive range of products—frozen and fresh meats, seafood, produce, dairy, beverages, canned and dry goods, and non-food items like paper products, kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies—through its network of distribution centers.
The company operates three main business segments: U.S. Foodservice Operations, which includes broadline distribution and specialty businesses like fresh produce and meat distribution; International Foodservice Operations covering Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe; and SYGMA, which provides customized distribution to quick-service restaurant chains. Sysco also operates hotel supply operations. In fiscal 2025, the company generated $81.4 billion in annual sales, primarily through direct distribution to independent and chain restaurants, which account for 60% of sales, with the remainder from healthcare, education, travel and leisure, and other foodservice customers.
